Around 2010 many skaters dream became reality when the city of Helsinki granted a 900m2 space for them to build a skatepark on their own terms. Construction started in spring 2011 right after the snow melted.

During these 5 years we have poured about 60 cubic meters of concrete. Many have learnt how to work with concrete within these thousands of hours and today some of us do skateparks around the world as their profession.

SuvilahtiDIY have hosted many international events and gained a lot of positive coverage on around different medias.

Non of the workers get paid so every dime goes to the construction materials like concrete, rebars, bricks and fillers. Please help us make this already wonderful park even better!

As a reward for your support we offer few different things like patches, scarfs and t-shirt (which last two are only sent to Finnish addresses, sorry). There is also possibility to get your name on our wall (graffiti) or on a skateable Tombstone which will be mounted ceremonially on our skatepark!

Olen Aleksi Nurminen, 23 vuotias ammattilaisvapaaottelija, otellut amatöörinä sekä ammattilaisena yhteensä 31 kertaa, joista olen voittanut 25 ottelua. Vain yksi voitoistani on tullut täydellä otteluajalla, kun kaikki muut ovat loppuneet ennen, joko tyrmäyksellä tai luovutusotteella.

Vuonna 2014 voitin vapaaottelun amatöörien SM- ja MM-kultaa. Mandalay Bayssa käydyssä MM-finaalissa voitin Iso-Britannian mestarin tuhansien ihmisten edessä.

Seuraava tavoitteeni on saada sopimus maailman suurimpaan vapaaottelu-organisaatioon UFC:hen (The Ultimate Fighting Championship) ja voittaa siellä mestaruus.

Fanit kutsuvat minua nimellä “kaikkien aikojen paras” ja aion lunastaa tämän lempinimen.

Tämän tavoitteen saavuttaminen vaatii päättäväisyyttä, suunnitelmallisuutta, ammattimaista harjoittelua ja paljon hyviä tukijoita ympärille.

Tarvitsen myös SINUN apuasi tällä uskomattomalla matkalla huipulle ja saavuttaakseni nämä kunnianhimoiset tavoitteet.

Tämän rahoituskampanjan tarkoituksena on kustantaa minulle harjoitusleiri Yhdysvalloissa kesällä 2016, jossa pääsen harjoittelemaan maailman parhaiden kanssa sekä kehittymään urheilijana halutulle tasolle.

Haluan julkaista omakustanteisen, kovakantisen taidevalokuvakirjan, joka tulee koostumaan ottamistani surf-aiheisista valokuvista ja lyhyistä mietelauseista, jotka kuvaavat lainelautailijan mielenmaisemaa, ja tarvitsen tukeasi mahdollistaakseni hankkeen.

Meressä viettämäni aika on merkittävän suuri ja vuoden 2010 jälkeen viettänyt kaiken aikani aaltoja seuraten ulkomailla: olen valokuvannut surffausta niin aallokossa uiden kuin rannalta käsin, ja valokuviani on julkaistu alan mediassa kansainvälisesti. Nyt haluan tuoda kuviani esille myös Suomessa, jossa on kokoajan kasvava joukko surf -kulttuurista kiinnostuneita ihmisiä.

Suomalaisena lainelautailijana / surf -valokuvaajana itsensä elättäminen on luonnollisestikin haasteellista, ja riisidieetti on tullut itselleni erittäin tutuksi. Tästä huolimatta olen jatkanut valokuvausta puhtaasti rakkaudesta mereen ja aaltoihin. Toivon tämän yhteisrahoituskampanjan mahdollistavan työskentelyrauhan kirjahankkeen parissa, alkaen huhtikuusta 2016, kuuden kuukauden ajaksi. Loka- ja marraskuun aikana tulen valitsemaan kirjaan painettavat kuvat ja viimeistelemään teoksen. Kirjan laatu tulee olemaan huippuluokkaa ja sisältö painottuu erityisesti maisemaotoksiin täydellisistä aalloista kauniissa valossa.

Kirjaa painetaan pieni 100 kappaleen numeroitu ja signerattu erä, jonka saat itsellesi 99 euron hintaan kotiin postitettuna. Kirjasta tehdään myös pienempi versio (49 euroa/kpl), jotta kaikilla on mahdollisuus osallistua ja nauttia kuvasadosta! Kirjojen toimitusaika on joulukuussa 2016, ja kaikki rahoittaneet saavat rahoituskampanjan päätyttyä kuukausittain tervehdyksen projektin edistymisestä, sillä oletuksella että 2500 euron minimi täyttyy.

Joulukuussa julkaistava FUTSALISTA on tietokirja, jossa Suomen ensimmäinen ammattifutsalista Panu Autio esittelee lajin ja pelin nimeltä futsal.

Kirjassa perehdytään lajin historiaan, sääntöihin ja erityispiirteisiin. Autio paneutuu erityisesti suomifutsalin menneisyyteen ja nykyisyyteen ja peilaa sitä kokemuksiinsa kansainvälisiltä kentiltä. Teos syventyy myös pelin teknisiin, taktisiin, fyysisiin ja psyykkisiin ulottuvuuksiin, minkä ansiosta sitä voi käyttää vaikkapa valmennusoppaana. Tuhdin tietopaketin lomassa Panu kertoo omaa tarinaansa ja tuo vahvasti esille näkemyksiään futsalin tilasta ja kehityksestä.

Meiltä löytyy radat niin krossareille kuin driftaajille katukisaajia unohtamatta. Lisäksi pääset ajamaan rock crawlereilla hulppealla maastoradallamme. Ja mikä hienointa: Sinulta ei tarvitse löytyä omaa radio-ohjattavaa joka lajiin tai ollenkaan. Vuokramme autoja kaikille radoille.
Eikä siinä vielä kaikki! Myös sähköautoradoista pitäville löytyy oma IIISO digitaalinen sähköautorata, jossa voi kisata jopa kuusi kuskia kerralla!
Lisäksi ajamisen lomassa voi pelata ilmakiekkoa, biljardia tai vaikkapa heitellä dartsia sekä nauttia kahvilamme antimista.

Tue Annika Kyrklundin ja ratsunsa Jara frá Hornin matkaa kohti askellajiratsastuksen MM-kisoja 2015! MM-kisat ovat tänä vuonna Tanskan Herningissä 3-9.8.2015. Annika ja Jara kisaavat passiluokissa, joista ei vauhtia puutu. Nopeuskilpailuna käytävissä passiluokissa ratsukko voitti vuonna 2015 SM kultaa 100 metrin speedpassissa ja 250 metrin passijuoksussa. Ratsukko menee kovaa maailmantasollakin: 250 metrin passin aika 23,83 sekuntia yltää maailman 20 parhaan joukkoon. Edellinen maajoukkue-edustus Annikalla oli Itävallan St. Radegundissa MM-kilpailuissa 1.-7.8.2011. Nyt alla on uusi ratsu, Jara frá Horni I ja ratsukolta tullaan varmasti näkemään kovaa vauhtia Tanskassa!

Tässä projektissa kerätään varoja ratsukko Annika Kyrklundin ja Jara frá Horni:n Tanskan Herningissä pidettäviä MM-kisoja varten. MM-kisat ovat 3-9.8.2015.
Annika Kyrklund on askellajiratsastuksen kovimpia suomalaisnimiä. Hän on kisannut SM-tasolla vuodesta -97 asti ja päälajina passi on ollut jo vuosia. Maajoukkuedustuksia on vuosien varrella ollut myös useita.

Passi on yksi islanninhevosten viidestä askellajista ja siinä Annikaa kiehtoo vauhti.
Annikalla on allaan uusi kisahevonen, tamma Jara frá Horni , joka on Annikan mukaan sinnikäs, kilpailunhaluinen ja tuloksista päätelleen myös hyvin nopea. Tästä ratsukosta tullaan kuulemaan tulevaisuudessa vielä paljon!

Kilpailumatka on kallis ja kokonaissumma nousee lähellä 10 000 euroa.
Minimisummalla saadaan katettua puolet hevosen kuljetuskustannuksista Tanskaan. Kokonaiskustannukset koostuvat hevosen-, ratsastajan ja hoitotiimin matkakuluista, majoituskuluista , hevosen hoito- ja kisahuolto- ja rokotuskuluista. Mukaan on laskettu myös valmennuskulut ennen kisoja ja loppukaudelle.

Making the documentary is very important for Rovaniemi-based company Flatlight Creative House, and especially for director Miikka Niemi. Miikka was shooting a freestyle skiing film when Pekka’s accident happened right in front of his eyes. This ended both the shooting of the film and Pekka’s successful freestyle skiing career. Miikka says, “It’s really important to tell Pekka’s story. His positive attitude and determination will encourage everybody to push their personal limits.”

Five years ago, 20-year-old Pekka wanted to become the best freestyle skier in the world. His life and future plans were all about freestyle skiing. The story of this young man’s recovery from a brain injury inspired not just the freestyle skiing community, but others, too. In this documentary we want to show the last five years of Pekka’s remarkable turnaround, and talk about his future. We want people to see a side of Pekka’s story that they haven’t yet seen in the media. We have already shot a lot of material for New Run, but there are still many scenes to be filmed.

We would like you to join us on this journey, and help to make this documentary a reality. With the campaign at Mesenaatti, we will fund the screenwriting process, development, and post production of the documentary. Our plan is to make this film internationally renowned and an inspiration for all, and tell Pekka’s story from a different point-of-view.

Our project

We’re three young Finnish women raising funds to complete our surf documentary on Marco Polo, Peruvian surfer and fisherman from a small village of Lobitos. We have loads of good material that is just waiting to be turned into a documentary film for both domestic and foreign markets!

The main character of our film is the 29-year-old surfer, whose life seems to be as colourful as the life of the famous explorer, after whom our guy was once named. In Lobitos, the village situated on the coast of Northern Peru, there’s hardly anyone who wouldn’t know Marco Polo, or Bokita like his friends call him (the nickname refers to his big smiling mouth, mouth in Spanish is ‘boca’).

Bokita is known for surfing fearlessly without survival instinct of any kind, challenging even the professionals in their own game. This man is nevertheless a humble villager who, unlike the self-conscious trendy surfers listening to reggae, puts on a CD of cumbia, Peruvian village music dealing with heartaches. He is the representative of uniqueness, losses and unpredictability of life, a combination that can be used to describe the history of Lobitos too.

The village is a world-known surf spot whose waves attract people from pro-surfers to tourists to visit Lobitos. Yet only few visitors realize what kinds of issues the villagers are dealing with; there’s lack of drinkable water, oil drilling and climate change have serious effects on the fishermen’s livelihood and corruption is a visible part of this small community. The purpose of our documentary is to show the many faces of Lobitos and contemplate on the role of the world famous trendy sport in this village’s life.

The idea for the documentary was born at the end of 2013 while Jelena and Aino were volunteering in Lobitos. Back then we got to know Marco Polo and experience the absurdity of everyday life in Lobitos. From the beginning the belief in the project was so strong that even the lack of external funding or a clear plan, did not stop us to go on. We decided to go and film the document at the end of the year 2014. The best part is that even the main character didn’t believe this to be true, not even the moment we saw him the next year.

Travel expenses and the filming gear were mainly self-funded with the exception of few donations we got from private persons and companies. We’re applying funding through the MESENAATTI.ME –crowd funding to cover the post-production expenses to be able to finish this project in a desired way and make possible the marketing and screening of the film outside Finland.

Libros a Lobitos

Libros A Lobitos is a grass-roots literacy project serving the small coastal community of Lobitos, Peru. It was founded by passionate educators who, after a year of teaching in the local school, realized that English education (while important) was blatantly a secondary concern when compared to more basic educational needs. A community-wide survey that revealed whisperings of illiteracy in Lobitos’ older generations contributed to the inspiration to establish a program that would not only promote literacy but also work to ignite a love of literature and aid in fostering a generation of young readers.

Master of Capoeira Mestre Russo has a dream: to build a cultural center, which gives talented yet poor children of the Rio de Janeiro suburban area lessons in capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, languages and international collaboration. For free!!!

The dream is alive. We are a global network of individuals and capoeira groups willing to make a contribution. Some of us have volunteered to participate in the construction works, some are ready to teach rhythm, music harmony, foreign language, dance and acrobatics. Some of us are spreading the word about the project and contributing financially. Every small contribution is valuable and important.

We want to renovate the existing building and build an additional wing including a room for capoeira, a small museum/archive of Afro-Brazilian culture, accomodation, a small kitchen and a hallway for photos and exhibitions. Later on we plan to purchase instruments and a video projector to show documentaries.

We are collaborating with the faculty of architecture of the University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The architectural project has already started and will go on until mid 2016.

We are partners with Escola Cultural Zungu Capoeira (São Paulo, Brazil) as well with various mestres and hundreds of lovers of capoeira around the world. You too can be one of them, one of us!

A modest estimate about the overall expenses regarding the basic material is around 10 000 euros. This is our fundraising target by mid 2016. So there will be fundraising campaigns in future, too.

In this first phase we want to get funds for basic construction material, such as bricks, cement, wood, nails, plumbing, basic tools etc. We aim to realise this first planning and construction phase during August-December 2015. There are already many people signed up for the construction activities but there are still places left!
