PMMP – Tässä elämä on -dokumenttielokuvan levitys

Arto Tuohimaan ohjaama elokuva seuraa läheltä yhtyeen viimeistä kahta vuotta ja arkea kiertueella, studiossa ja treenikämpällä.

PMMP toimi alusta alkaen samalla kokoonpanolla ja “tehdään itse”-mentaliteetilla, joka poikkeaa totutuista populaarimusiikin tekemisen prosessista. Elokuva antaa puheenvuoron myös muille vähemmän julkisuudessa esillä olleille yhtyeen jäsenille rikkoen suurelle yleisölle tuttua Paula ja Mira -asetelmaa.

Kaksi vuotta kestänyt kuvausjakso sekä jälkityöt on toteutettu bändin inspiroimassa hengessä omaehtoisesti, ja elokuva on tehty käytännössä kokonaan pienen tekijäjoukon talkootyönä.
Elokuvan ainoa rahoitus, Musiikin Edistämissäätiöltä saatu 4000 € kattaa n. 75 % elokuvan tekijänoikeuskustannuksista pohjoismaisen festivaalilevityksen osalta. Tuotanto on muuten hoidettu omakustanteisesti.

Kampanjan tuotolla katetaan mm:
– laajemmasta levityksestä aiheutuvat tekijänoikeuskorvaukset
– markkinointimateriaalin sekä esityskopioiden valmistaminen
– elokuvan kääntämisestä sekä tekstittämisestä syntyvät kulut
– mahdollisten erikoisnäytösten järjestämisestä aiheutuvat kulut
– elokuvan extramateriaalin valmiiksisaattaminen

Suurkiitos yhteistyöstä PMMP, Rokkikauppa & Striim.in!

Bachin cembalokonserttojen levytyssarjamme AEOLUS-yhtiölle jatkuu – tule mukaan tekemään levyä! Edelliset osat saivat huippuvastaanoton: kriitikoilta loppuivat ylistyssanat kesken Suomessa ja ulkomailla.

“J.S. Bachin kuuden cembalokonserton kokonaislevytyksen toisessa osassa Aapo Häkkinen yhtyeineen jatkaa barokkitraumojen terapointia ajamalla vuolasta sähkövirtaa tuttujen teosten läpi.”
Auli Särkiö, Rondo

“Aapo Häkkinen on yksi suosikkimuusikoistani – hämmentävä sekoitus analyyttista musiikkinörttiä ja romanttista heittäytyjää. Kapellimestarina Häkkinen on nostanut Helsingin Barokkiorkesterin kansainväliselle huipputasolle.”
Kare Eskola, YLE Uudet levyt

Haluamme palkita mesenaattimme monin tavoin. Tutustu vastikkeisiin ja mahdollista tämän ihmeellisen ihanan musiikin säilyminen elinvoimaisena lapsillemme ja lapsenlapsillemme!

EMO Ensemble finds its wings and takes flight to Taiwan

EMO Ensemble, a highly esteemed chamber choir operating in Espoo and Helsinki since the year 2000, is on a mission to advance Finland’s choral culture, never shying away from musical challenges and always shaking up established beliefs. Since the spring of 2013, EMO Ensemble has been operating in an unusual way for a Finnish choir, bringing 3–4 fresh programmes to its home arenas of the House of Nobility (Ritarihuone) and Kallio Church every spring and autumn season.

EMO Ensemble now stands once again on the threshold of a new era for itself and for the choral world in Finland. During the 2014–2015 season, sopranist Pasi Hyökki, who has been the artistic director since the choir was established, will hand over responsibility for the choir’s concert planning to a new artistic committee. This will be an expert collective with a core formed by the choir’s section leaders. This will help the ensemble to find its own wings and gain its independence. Each concert will be led by a guest conductor invited by the committee, with Pasi Hyökki continuing on in the well-deserved position of principal guest conductor.

The recognition earned by EMO Ensemble around the world is evident in that it has been invited to appear at the Taipei International Choral Festival, to be held in Taiwan in the summer of 2015. Previously Finland has been represented at that festival by renowned ensembles including Rajaton and Club for Five. We need your support in order to reach this culmination point, as the choir will be financing its own trip to Taiwan!

Minimum target: The new artistic committee will become well-established and interesting guest artists will be invited to appear in the concert series for 2015.

Principal target: EMO Ensemble will represent Finland at the Taipei International Choral Festival in Taiwan in the summer of 2015.

PMMP – Tässä elämä on -dokumenttielokuvan levitys

Markku Tourosen laulajan polku alkoi 90-luvulla Suomirock -bändi Mustan Albiinon solistina. Eräänlaisina virstanpylväinä voidaan pitää bändin 3. sijaa silloisissa Rock SM-kilpailussa, vuonna 1997. Bändi osallistui myös Selmu Ry:n ja Seinäjoen Rytmi-instituutin julkaisemalle Promo2000 kokoelma-CD:lle v. 1999, biisillään ”Kartalla taas”, jonka voi kuunnella tästä linkistä: http://www.mikseri.net/artists/musta-albiino/kartalla-taas/80690/
Musta Albiino keikkaili ahkerasti pitkin Suomea, kunnes bändin toiminta loppui vuonna 2000.
Simple Men keikkailee edelleenkin. Markku Touronen & Beat66 orkesteri alkoi ahkerasti treenaamaan autotallissa esikuvinaan nimet Badding, Jussi Raittinen & The Boys, Agents, Topi Sorsakoski, Jorma Kääriäinen….jne. Treenikämpiltä lähdettiin luonnollisesti myös aikoinaan keikoille. Nyttemmin isänmaalliseksikin mainittua rautalankaiskelmän ilosanomaa on levitetty vuosien varrella erilaisissa juhlissa, tapahtumissa, soittoruokaloissa, eli missä vaan minne on tilattu ja rehtiä bändiä tarvittu.

Jouney to ArabJazz is a project that will culminate for two free concerts in Helsinki and Espoo. The idea is create a meeting place for the people from different cultural backgrounds. It’s also about to bring up the conflict situations at the moment in Middle-East and Arabic countries and to make a statement for peace with music.

Journey to Arabjazz is about diving into sensitive, mysterious, rhythmical and entertaining mixed genres of jazz and Arabic music. Playful and improvised music with strange scales and rhythms. Musicians from different parts of the world and cultures come together, share and combine their musical backgrounds. The goal is to bring musicians from both oriental and jazz genres and create an unique atmosphere between the audience and musicians.

The music is composed by Lotta-Maria Pitkänen and Aapo Heinonen and it’s influenced of jazz, folk and oriental music.
In the music is also left a lot of room for improvisation.

WHAT IS THIS?

We Jazz 2013 Documentary Package

_MG_1389

WHAT DO YOU GET?

A We Jazz 2013 documentary film by director Petri Luukkainen (DVD), We Jazz Loft Sessions in 3D audio CD, a print magazine of approximately 100 pages with photography by Miikka Pirinen and Maarit Kytöharju, an exclusive We Jazz 2014 preview poster. All of the material is to be released only with this package.

WHY?

1) We are stunned by the quality of the material available from We Jazz 2013 2) we think it’s important to document what happens in the scene now, not only for present audiences but also for later generations of music enthusiasts 3) we have received some encouraging comments regarding the possible release, and wish to follow up on that with our audience.

_MG_2345

HOW WILL WE USE THE MONEY?

The budget for this project consists of, for example, printing costs, postage and copyright costs plus the fees for the editing of the film and the audio, editing the print magazine and photographers’ fees, in other words making it possible for the doers to do. Our minimum goal will make the project possible with reduced budget and all potential profit from the project will go directly into funding future We Jazz projects.

WHAT WAS WE JAZZ 2013?

The Helsinki-based creative office We Jazz launched a new week-long jazz event, an installation or utopia of sorts, on December 9–14 2013. The program featured top Finnish and international jazz acts, and also conceptually challenged the traditional limits of live music performance.

We had tons of fun and wanted to also document what happens, bringing together film, photography and audio recordings. This, we feel is important in order to preserve a lasting document of what really happened during this time and how jazz in Helsinki sounded like in 2013. This all is equally meant for those who were there and those who couldn’t be there.

_MG_2295

WHO ARE THE DOCUMENTARISTS?

We Jazz 2013 was documented by some of our favorite professionals in their respective fields. The We Jazz 2013 film was shot and will be directed by filmmaker Petri Luukkainen of My Stuff fame, and produced by Unifilm Ltd, who share the Helsinki office with We Jazz. The concert audio was recorded and will be mixed by Abdissa Assefa, who has been a vital part of the recording team of the recent Timo Lassy releases, the behind the scenes photographs were taken by Miikka Pirinen and Maarit Kytöharju.

We are lucky to call all these very talented people our friends. This project to raise funds for the release, then, is not only that but also our celebration of the work of all people involved in making We Jazz 2013 happen.

_MG_1771

AND THEN?

The We Jazz 2013 documentary package includes a DVD, a CD, a print magazine and the We Jazz 2014 preview poster. All of these products will only be produced if the crowd funding initiative is successful. All of the material exists presently in a raw form, from which it will be edited to be published pending the success of the crowd funding.

The We Jazz 2013 documentary film by Petri Luukkainen features both the artists and the audience and includes interviews with many of the event’s makers. The We Jazz Loft Sessions in 3D performance took place at Kuudes linja on December 10 and included improvised future jazz by the trio of Teppo Mäkynen, Aki Rissanen and Abdissa Assefa. Thus far, the music was heard only there and then. The unreleased photography by Miikka Pirinen and Maarit Kytöharju present the mood behind the scenes in their intimate beauty. The We Jazz 2014 preview poster released only here will evoke feelings from the upcoming event.

The We Jazz 2013 documentary package can be ordered to be shipped internationally, to be shipped within Finland, ot to be picked up at a Helsinki location to be announced upon it’s completion. There is also a low-cost digital download option available including a unique code for downloading the film + audio content. The package will be delivered in September 2014.

PMMP – Tässä elämä on -dokumenttielokuvan levitys

In the spring of 2008, when he was only 26 years old, Juho Koivuaho was diagnosed with an acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. After this followed a five-year fight against the cancer, during which his leukaemia was treated successfully twice with intensive treatment and bone marrow transplants. However, the third relapse finally proved to be fatal. The recording process of Victims Of Ikuri album started when Koivuaho was released from the hospital and the palliative care started at home. A month afterwards, on 3rd of October 2013, Koivuaho passed away at the age of 31. There were no more treatments that could have saved him. Even knowing that this time there was no hope of stalling the cancer, Koivuaho remained in fairly good condition and spirits until the end.

Compared to his previous work with Plain Fade, which often was unabashedly bombastic and massive-sounding (for example, the band’s last album Anthropogonia featured a 50-piece choir), Valediction takes on a decidedly more intimate singer-songwriter approach. Musically these songs are diverse and insightful. They range from the elegant and dark moods of Woodwinds Of Judgement to the straightforward bluesy stylings of Misty Cowboy; the Finnish rock legend Michael Monroe guest stars on the latter song, playing harmonica. All in all, the whole album contains a diverse range of musical highlights, ranging from some very minimalistic moments to songs with majestic and massive arrangements.

The lyrics on Valediction (some of which were finished during the recording sessions) are multi-layered and contain allusions to Koivuaho’s condition, as well as to different places he lived in and visited during his short yet rich life. During his professional career in social services Koivuaho worked quite extensively among immigrants, and encountering a diverse array of different cultures and people had a profound effect on him, which is also evident in the lyrics. During his last years Koivuaho lived in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. However, Tampere – his hometown in Western Finland – remained a very important place for him. The name of the project, Victims of Ikuri is a testament to this influence – Ikuri being a district in West Tampere.

The recordings were mainly made at Koivuaho’s home in Helsinki. The musicians on this album were friends of Koivuaho, and it remains a very special and important project for all of us who contributed. The sessions were very intensive, with recordings continuing as long as possible. During the last month we managed to record all the crucial parts to every song. After Koivuaho’s death we finished the album according to his wishes.

This recording process kept Koivuaho attached to life and his friends during the hospice, giving him both fleeting yet very important moments of solace from the illness, as well as providing him courage to face the inevitable. It was also an opportunity to craft truly unique music with his friends one last time. He passionately wanted to have these songs heard; some of them he had created just a couple of months before passing away. This is Juho Koivuaho’s Valediction.

-Juho Salmi, a friend

Track list, publication information and cost breakdown for Victims of Ikuri

Track list for Victims Of Ikuri: Valediction

1. Woodwinds Of Judgement

2. The Bear Park Anthem

3. Dillinger

4. Waving Heaven Goodbye

5. Misty Cowboy’s Revenge and the Last Breath of the Notorious Butcher

6. Everyday Preciousness

7. Kirkuk

8. Valediction

Running time approximately 40 minutes. All music and lyrics by Juho Koivuaho, except Valediction: music by Juho Koivuaho & Juho Salmi.

The album will be released in October 2014 by the latest, and will be released in vinyl according to the wishes of Koivuaho. The LP will be created with exquisitely made gatefold packaging to reflect the extraordinary music on the album. In addition, the package will also contain CD version of Valediction.

The album will be published mainly with the help of the funds received from the crowdfunding campaign. To date the album has been produced with the help of participating family members, friends and musicians donating their own time and money. In order to release the album in a format suitable for its true potential and artistic value, we need funds to pay for the mastering, pressing, mailing and other costs stemming from the album release and promotion. Estimate for the minimum cost is €4500 (depending on the amount of albums ordered). The record will be released by Punos Sound.

Cost breakdown summary:

Pressing costs of the record (300 copies): approx. €2000

Mastering costs: approx. €300 – €500

Recording licence from Nordisk Copyright Bureau: approx. €450

Packaging costs: approx. €150

Mailing costs (150 copies sent): approx. €500 – €1000

Promotional costs for the album: approx. €500

Mesenaatti.me crowdfunding service commission fee: minimum amount €250

If the minimum goal is met, we can pay for the most crucial costs related to the release of the album. If the target amount (€15 000) is reached, we can afford to cover all the costs related to the release, make a donation to the Meilahti Triangle Hospital, as well as to pay a small compensation to all the musicians who have donated their time and skills to complete this project. The rest 50 % of the profit from the campaign will be shared with those musicians and other people, who participated in making the album.

Donation to the Meilahti Triangle Hospital

50% of the profit from this campaign will be donated to the Meilahti Triangle Hospital’s haematology wards 7A and 7B where Koivuaho was also treated. He was very satisfied with the care he received, so we believe that the donations will therefore be directed towards an important and meaningful cause. Patients suffering from malignant blood diseases are treated on these wards; in most cases, patients are suffering from acute and chronic leukaemia, myeloma, lymphoma or aplastic anaemia.

When we reach the goal of €15 000, the amount of donation will be approximately €2 000. The more funds we raise, the larger the sum donated will be.

More information about the aforementioned wards can be found in the following links:

PMMP – Tässä elämä on -dokumenttielokuvan levitys

My name is Mikko Keinonen. I’m a Finnish film director and culture enthusiast and I represent a group of people who want to help our friends in Ukraine in their artistic work.

Twelve years ago I got in my hands a demo by the Ukrainian rock group Myortvye Grushi (Dead Pears) and I was impressed and delighted by its quality and fresh creativity. After some unlikely incidents I ended up releasing their first album year 2004, because they weren’t mainstream enough to get a contract in their home country.

Now, eleven years later, Myortvye Grushi needs help again and I’ve gathered some of my fellow artists to support them.

Myortvye Grushi is preparing a new release but this time they have more obstacles than just a lack of a record company. Both their home town, Luhansk, and the location of their recording studio, Gorlovka, have become a warzone. Last summer two members of the trio, bassist-singer Vadim Zharikov and the guitar player Eduard Ivanov spent both six weeks in a cellar because of the bombings. They left Luhansk as soon as it was safe to move outside. The drummer Igor Mishenko didn’t wait for the bombs to fall but he left the country to protect his family.

Now Vadim and Ed are back home and they are continuing their art work with a new drummer. They are determined to finish their new album – or at least an EP – but it’s not an easy thing to do when you live in an area which is a constant target of bombs and granades.

We’ve started this campaign in order to support Myortvye Grushi to finish their newest release, Komiks tshesti. We are collecting money for the band so that they can pay for the studio in Ukraine, make their living through the recording process and have their new songs mixed in a Finnish studio.

In order to turn Myortvye Grushi’s art into cash we are making a re-release of their first album, Vily v bok! (2004) and their two latter albums Triobodrenza (2006) and Pod Vesyolim Rogerom kulturi (2011). We are arranging also a tour in Finland in May (dates and venues will be released in a few weeks).

Please help Mjortvye Grushi make their new album. Let’s make Ukraine also something else than just bad news.

ps. Olemme köyhiä.

Star Insight on vuonna 2005 perustettu melodista metallia soittava bändi Etelä-Pohjanmaalta. Bändi on tuottanut omakustanteena neljä julkaisua.
