This time the death will be remembered

WORLD X is a kind of a home space for the terminal stage characters. It is located nowhere, everywhere and anywhere. You can expect underordinary events, polar bear erotica, superhero of the sofa and changes in the fury set. There is going to be built iron lung, wall size fake organ. It seems that the movie will not be suitable for the audience under 18-year-old… The movie will be as long as it will. Our educated guess of the length is 20 minutes.

The Reward

Circus New World artistic director, Seija Hakkarainen’s film idea WORLD X was chosen to be a finalist in a competition for the best film idea of the Midnordic region. The final was held in Trondheim, Norway at the Minimalen movie festival 2014.
Hakkarainen’s pitch got the judges speechless and in the end of the day the idea was awarded with the second prize in the competition which meant 3 500 euros for the production of the film.

Dark Summer

The shooting location of the film is Kangas (abandoned paper mill) in Jyväskylä. The film crew which consists of approximately 15 people will work deep in the gloomy corners of the mill for three weeks in July 2014 and the additional filming will be done in the autumn of 2014.

Funding

The minimum goal of the campagn is 4000 euros. It is very little considering the costs of the filming but making this film project succeed, happens to be a very personal and ambitious matter for the whole crew and will become reality because of great volunteer work and excellent supporting partners. Nevertheless, our goal is to gain 14 000 euros during this campaign. This sum gives us a chance to make the scene which would be shot in a 15-meter-high and 100-merter-long hall. The mass scene includes 50 acrobats and 300 rain water meters. The scene requires a large amount of lighting equipment, a lift, vertical linen and a long list of other equipment.

In addition to the prize money gained from the competition, Sirkusyhdistys Circus Uusi Maailma ry (Organization behind Circus New World) will fund the production costs of the film: salaries, set, etc. During the 8 years the resources which the organization has gained will also be used for the film; for example the large selection of costumes will give a good nest egg for the aesthetic solutions of the project. The additional funding mechanisms available for filming industry will be fully researched and applied during the project.

We are fully aware that the movie would need around ten times the amount which we have set our goal. This is not possible in the Finnish film industry where even a dance film as a genre is seen as a misfit, not even considering a film wildly mixing multiple styles. We are not going to stand by and wait the world to change but bravely make the New World visions come true!

Rewards for the Funders

Circus New World’s style and aesthetics are really carefully considered. “The consideration of the detail is phenomenal” (Boarderline critique, KSML 12.7.2013). The cartoon flyer means a design poster losely based on the storyboard of the film. CUM –design baggy is approximately. 15 cm x 15 cm size zipper bag with hand printed vulgar picture of a large row boat pictured from above. We will provide the example pictures of the products online during the campaign.
